FORGEGUARD™
PASSIVATION

Every US Strip Tank undergoes our proprietary ForgeGuard™ passivation process — a full-volume citric acid treatment that exceeds ASTM A967 standards and creates a corrosion-resistant chromium oxide shield across every square inch of interior surface.

Each tank is filled to 95% capacity with a 4% citric acid solution and heated to 200°F — 20°F beyond the maximum temperature specified by ASTM A967. This isn't a quick spray or a partial dip. It's a prolonged, heated, full-immersion soak that passivates every weld, seam, corner, and crevice inside the tank.

The result? A hardened chromium oxide layer that dramatically extends tank life in the most aggressive chemical environments — caustics, NMP, MEA, and KOH solutions that would corrode lesser tanks within years.

Why This Matters

Passivation removes free iron from stainless steel surfaces and promotes formation of a protective chromium oxide layer. Higher temperatures accelerate and deepen this process. Our above-standard treatment means your tank starts life with a stronger protective barrier than any competitor — and that translates to years of additional service life in corrosive chemical environments.

SAFETY FEATURES THAT ACTUALLY MATTER

Every feature on the WL4 exists because we saw a real problem in real shops. No gimmicks. No spec sheet padding. Just engineering that keeps people safe.

Multi-Layered Safety System

With only 16°F between operating temp (180°F) and flash point (196°F), we don't rely on any single safety device. Our tanks combine a mechanical snap disc overtemperature cutoff, PID controller high-limit alarm, hardwired SSR failure detection, and thermistor fault alarms into one redundant system. Multiple independent layers must fail before a dangerous condition can occur.

Redundant protection no competitor matches.

Mechanical Snap Disc Safety Cutoff

The cornerstone of our safety design. A hardwired mechanical snap disc in the heater power path physically disconnects the heaters at 200°F — no software, no controller, no electronics involved. Even if every digital system fails, the snap disc stops runaway heating. It's physics, not firmware.

Failsafe protection independent of all electronics.

SSR Failure Detection & LED Diagnostics

A hardwired relay logic circuit detects stuck solid-state relays independent of the controller. Combined with 5-state LED diagnostics (green, yellow, red, off, flash), operators get instant visual confirmation of tank health — from normal heating to fault conditions. No guesswork.

Catches electrical faults before they become hazards.

NEMA 4X Stainless Enclosure

Chemical environments produce corrosive vapors that destroy standard enclosures. NEMA 4X stainless steel keeps electronics sealed and protected. Most competitors use NEMA 1.

Built for real chemical environments.

Dual-Valve Sludge Removal

2" bottom drain with pump connection eliminates the dangerous, time-consuming process of manually siphoning hot caustic sludge. What took 4+ hours now takes about 1.

75% reduction in maintenance time.

7-Gauge 304 Stainless

Nearly 3/16" thick stainless steel construction with 316 SS wetted fittings. Built to handle aggressive chemistries for decades, not years.

Marine-grade where it matters most.

3" 90° Center Lid Vent

Every tank includes a 3-inch 90-degree vent mounted in the center of the lid, directing vapor and steam safely away from operators. Proper ventilation is critical when working with heated chemicals — this isn't an add-on, it's standard.

Vapor & steam control built in.

American Made

Designed and manufactured in St. Louis, Missouri. Local fabrication means faster delivery, easier warranty service, and supporting American manufacturing.

St. Louis built. St. Louis backed.

SEE THE DIFFERENCE

Side-by-side with the competition. The WL4 isn't just different — it's the only tank designed for how chemical stripping actually works.

Industry Alert

THE EPA JUST BANNED
THE OLD WAY.
WE BUILT THE NEW WAY.

The EPA's methylene chloride ban (effective April 2026 for commercial use) is forcing the entire coating removal industry to transition from cold chemical stripping to heated alternatives.

Alternative chemistries like NMP-based strippers require heat (160–185°F) to work effectively. Cold alternatives are 5–6× less efficient. Every shop currently using methylene chloride needs a heated tank.

There is no dominant US supplier. Until now.

BUILT BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE INDUSTRY

Sam Gaines has spent over a decade in the chemical coating removal industry — working hands-on with the chemicals, the equipment, and the people who use them every day. He's seen firsthand what works, what breaks, and what puts operators at risk.

The WL4 wasn't designed in a vacuum. It was developed over two years of direct collaboration with powder coating shops — listening to their pain points, studying their workflows, and engineering solutions to the problems no other manufacturer was addressing. Every feature exists because a real shop needed it.

US Strip Tank Company is built on a simple commitment: equipment that works harder, lasts longer, and keeps operators safe. That's the standard, not the exception.

10+ years in the industry. 2 years of development. Built by someone who knows your shop.
